Anglo-Indonesian Society working together with the Indonesian Embassy in London commemorates Kartini day with a special panel discussion along with a special farewell dinner for Chairman Charles Humfrey on Tuesday, 17th April 2018.
The celebration of Kartini Day raised the topic of Kartini “The Past and the Present” presenting all women panels of Mrs. Hana Satriyo, Expert on Gender and Women’s participation and also the wife of the Indonesian Ambassador to the UK, Dr. Rizal Sukma, and Dorothy Ferary, Teaching Fellow at University College London. The intriguing topic has challenged today’s intellectuals on the issue of gender mainstreaming in the today’s Indonesian socio-cultural life and brought about a fiery discussion from the audience.
The evening was concluded with a special event in honour of Mr. Charles Humfrey CMG, with the title “The Chairman’s Farewell Dinner”. The Embassy and the Society thanked Bapak Charles for his dedication, service and love for Indonesia. Under his leadership for the past 7 years, the society has become an important part in supporting the expanding and deepening bilateral relationship between Indonesia and the UK through people to people Diplomacy. Both sad and happy moments for all the guests in the room to let Pak Charles go, his work will be remembered and cherished.
A truly memorable evening for all guests, and another fantastic event conducted by the society in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London. Special thanks to all friends of Indonesia for attending and taking part in the success of the event.
